Lifelong Learning

What is Lifelong Learning?

Lifelong learning is the ongoing development of your skills and knowledge
to improve and enrich your quality of life.

Lifelong learning:

  • begins at birth and continues throughout your life

  • involves participating in interest, education, employment, health-based activities and other learning opportunities

  • includes formal or informal learning

Lifelong learning week celebrates the diverse opportunities for Lifelong Learning in our community. Past participants have said:

"Lifelong Learning Week was very successful in helping spread the awareness of our

organization. Many people had never heard of the Friends of the Aviary before. I am sure

that news about it will spread now, which is what we were hoping for."

"Awareness and learning are conduits to growth and success. Lifelong Learning Week shines

a light on learning in its many forms which further creates awareness and subsequently

improves our quality of life."

- Women's Centre of Hamilton

"I wish my work schedule was different so I could have attended more events. There was not

one day of this event that did not offer some class or activity I would have liked to attend.

Can't wait to see next year's line-up."

"This event is a great way for the community and it's agencies to come together and provide

an awareness to the importance of lifelong learning."

"It was inspiring to be part of such a widespread community action - so many

groups/agencies/businesses coming together to honour the spirit of learning - a very

rewarding experience."

"Lifelong Learning Week is a great way for the community to collaborate and promote

each others' services/agencies."
